MANIFESTO

Founded by Alessia Avallone in 2017, Language of Sound is a multi-faceted source for creative direction: an artist management agency, consultancy, curatorial platform and record label with a singular, holistic approach to artistic representation.

Operating it first and foremost as a labour of love, her vision is to “fill the space between the Artist and the Art”, giving them the space to tell their stories and develop outside the industry’s mechanisms.

With a background in History, Art History and Philosophy, the Naples-born, London-based Alessia was part of the underground House Music movement in the early 2000s, developing her voice as a facilitator while working with established British and Italian Art Institutions.

A steadfastly progressive person, taking inspiration from Post-Humanist theories and diverse artistic disciplines, Alessia

understands there is a unique, unquantifiable energy to what can be painted with sounds. The role of the manager has moved from standing between the Artist and the Art to between the Artist and the greater worlds in which they operate, understanding the heavy responsibility borne by working with sonics.

Believing in the “Cosmic power of Sonics as an ancient theology” and recognising the oft-hidden connections between art forms, she works by ethos, not genre, showcasing their uniquely recognisable artistic visions.

Those languages vary from Lyra Pramuk’s post-genre innovation, Ron Trent soulfull deep house philosophy ,Gigi Masin’s delicate Neoclassicism, and Soundwalk Collective’s mesmerising sound-art experiments with Patti Smith, to TYGAPAW’s raw energy and emotional club sound.

The Language Of Sound label, launched in 2022, puts these philosophies to record with politically and socially informed artists across ages, backgrounds, cultures, and identities – all striving to answer how sound and music can help us connect with the world.

"Music is a sacred language. We're dealing with something you cannot touch, but you know it's there.”
